Honored at Breakfast

Volunteers honored at Literacy Breakfast

Community volunteers were recognized for their dedication to District 40 at the Ninth Annual Rotary Literacy Breakfast. Those honored included Rotarians, community leaders and church groups that work to improve literacy in the schools.  
 
The breakfast is hosted by the Moline Rotary Club Literacy Committee, the Bi-State Literacy Council and Moline School District No. 40.

Principal Faith Carter, of Lincoln-Irving Elementary School, introduced the volunteers who help students with reading and writing.

The keynote speaker was Leslie Kee, the Moline Public Library Director. She spoke about the history of literacy and her experiences in building a new library.

Principals introduced the volunteers that work in their buildings. Teresa Landon, principal at Jane Addams Elementary School, spoke about the dedication parents and community members give to the students.

Superintendent Cal Lee thanked Lincoln-Irving volunteer Carol Francis
for her dedication to the schools.

Assistant Superintendent Bob Dyer and Clint Christopher, Director of Technology for Moline School District No. 40, congratulated Washington volunteer Polly Mackin.
