New Administrators for the 2008 - 2009 School Year

Assistant Superintendent Pupil/Personnel Services - Dr. Diann Richardson
Dr. Diann Richardson, from Golden, Colorado, is the new Assistant Superintendent Pupil/Personnel Services. Before coming to Moline, Dr. Richardson served as the Assistant Director for Exceptional Student Services for Jefferson County School District in Golden. She oversaw 30 schools in a district of 85,000 students. In her position, Dr. Richardson supervised area coordinators and new administrators, worked on team building on placement and programming concerns for students, coordinated professional development activities and participated in mediation hearings. She previously worked as the Director of Student services for Park R-3 School District in Estes Park, Colorado. She also served as an elementary principal in McCall, Idaho and Ottumwa, Iowa. For the first 10 years of her education career, Dr. Richardson was a special education teacher for the Davenport Community School District.

Ericsson Elementary School
- Juanita Terronez
Ms. Juanita Terronez, from Moline, is the new principal for Ericsson Elementary School. For the past 15 years, Ms. Terronez has taught grades 1-5 at Ericsson. Her versatility as a bilingual educator has been a strong asset to the school’s instructional program. In her tenure, she has served on numerous building and district-wide committees. In particular, she has been a district grade level representative and has served on the following committees - textbook adoption, curriculum alignment, Drug Free Schools, and Moline School District No. 40’s Bilingual Advisory Council. As the lead teacher at Ericsson, Ms. Terronez gained experience in assuming the role of principal. Her knowledge of the Ericsson community and its needs has aided in the development of a mutual respect from parents, staff, and students.

Roosevelt Elementary School Principal
- Sandra Malahy
Ms. Sandra Malahy, from Oregon, Illinois, is the new principal for Roosevelt Elementary School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska in Music Education in 1992. In 2003, she received her Master of Arts degree in Music from VanderCook College in Chicago. Ms. Malahy was a music instructor for 10 years, serving as a high school music director in DeWitt, Iowa for four years and the K-12 Music Director in Thomson, Illinois for six years. After receiving her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Western Illinois University in 2005, she served as an elementary principal in Oregon, Illinois. She helped to initiate many activities in her district ranging from the development of a K-11 summer program, aligning curriculum both vertically and horizontally, developing an early literacy program, initiating a teacher mentoring program, and researching and adopting a Response to Intervention model for her district. Ms. Malahy has also written grants for Early Childhood, Reading Improvement, English Language Learners, Oregon Education Foundation Grants and Title I grants.
