Students use interactive programs to learn.

Moline School District No. 40 purchased 345 iMac computers to be used in the elementary schools’ Interactive Learning Series Labs. Along with the new hardware, the Educational Technology Department implemented the Compass Learning Odyssey.

Compass Learning is an innovative, interactive, educational software solution that meets Illinois State Standards and is based on current scientific research into how students think and learn.

The District paid $720,000 for the project. A grant also was received from the Moline Foundation that will total $150,000 by 2009. In addition, the Moline Public Schools Foundation plans to assist with additional funds. The new computers were sent to 12 elementary schools and 15 to the Alternative High School.
