The members of the social studies department of Moline High School believe that all students should have the opportunities and resources to attain the historical knowledge, cultural literacy, and citizenship competencies necessary to become responsible, participating members of our democracy. Furthermore we believe that students should develop knowledge and acquire problem-solving skills that will help them understand themselves and their role in a culturally diverse and ever-changing world. This knowledge and these skills are secured when students are afforded the opportunity to become actively engaged in learning activities under the direction of knowledgeable educators. Teachers will take into account multiple intelligences and differing abilities when planning and delivering lessons and conducting assessments. Evaluations should be timely and appropriate. The members of the social studies department are fully committed to providing the best possible education to the students of Moline High School.
