2009 NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTEES

The National Honor Society was founded in 1921. The National Association of Secondary School Principals established the recognition to encourage academic achievement while developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy. These ideals of scholarship, character, service and leadership remain as relevant today as they were in 1921.

At Moline High School, juniors are invited to apply for National Honor Society after their fifth semester if they have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.45 or above and have a weighted grade point average of 3.5 or above. They are also invited to apply for induction. In addition to academic requirements, students are required to participate in at least three activities, one of which must be a Moline High School activity.

During the school year, the National Honor Society members participate in a variety of activities. In August they clean and mulch the entrance area to the high school. The students also sponsor activities throughout the year for the Share Joys program. The programs help clothe needy children during the Christmas season.
