Helpful Hints for Downloading PDF Files

Are you having trouble viewing or downloading Portable Document Format (PDF) files that have been posted to this Web Site? This section provides guidance on how to successfully access these important documents.

Step 1: Determine if you have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 3.0 or higher

Some information on our Web Site is saved in PDF, or Portable Document Format, and you must have the Adobe Acrobat Viewer in order to view these files. You can determine if you have Adobe Acrobat Viewer by searching your files/folders for "Adobe Acrobat Reader". If you don't have this application, use this link to download the Acrobat Reader.

Step 2: To view PDF files in your Browser:

1. Click on the file (either a form, report, or other document) you wish to view.
2. If your computer is set up to automatically open up PDF files in your browser, you will be able to view the file in a few seconds. If this process takes longer than a minute, you should go to Step 3.

Step 3: To save/download PDF files to your hard drive:

1. Use your mouse to "right click" on the file you wish to obtain. You should see a menu with a "Save to..." option. Choose this option, and save the file to your computer (either a disk or your hard drive).

ATTENTION MAC USERS: To download files:

1. Hold down the clicker on your mouse until a list of menu options appears.

2. From this menu option, choose the "Save to..." option, and save the file to your computer (either a disk or your hard drive).

Step 4: To print PDF files you have opened in your browser (by following Step 2):

1. Click on the Adobe print icon (underneath your browser buttons) to print out the entire file. DO NOT select the PRINT option from your Internet browser, because this action prints out only one page of the file.

Step 5: If you are still having trouble downloading PDF files from the Web Site, ask yourself these questions:

1. Are you trying to open the PDF files in your browser?

You may be more successful if you save the files to your hard drive and open them after exiting your Internet browser.

2. "When I print the PDF files, I am only able to print one page. Why?"

You are selecting the "print" option from your browser. You must select the Adobe Print icon (underneath your browser buttons) to print out the entire file.

3. "When I click on the links to PDF files, I see gibberish. Why?"

Your browser is not configured to automatically open PDF files. You must follow Step 3 above to save these files to your hard drive and open using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
