A Message from Mr. Etheridge: Welcome to Bicentennial Elementary School!

The staff at Bicentennial Elementary School extends a warm welcome to all students and their families.  Bicentennial Elementary School is focused on student learning through excellent instruction in a safe, inclusive, and caring environment.  Students are challenged to reach their full potential while accepting responsibility for their choices and feeling pride in their accomplishments.

Research shows that home factors account for 49% of a child’s success at school. When schools and families work together to support learning, children perform better in school, stay longer, and enjoy school more. At Bicentennial, we encourage and invite families to join us in your child’s educational experience by:

  • Discussing the importance of learning and school
  • Setting high standards and praising jobs well done
  • Talking about how academic skills apply to jobs
  • Volunteering at school
  • Attending Parent-Teacher conferences/special events at school/PTO Meetings
  • Checking your child’s planner everyday
  • Making sure your child is present and on time to school, has had something to eat, and is getting enough sleep
  • Communicating with teachers about your child’s progress.

We look forward to working with all students and their families this year.  Please call or stop in the office anytime with questions, comments, or concerns about your child’s education.  The phone number is 309-743-1614, or you can email me at [email protected].
