Message from Mrs. Lantzky

Dear Roosevelt Family,

Leadership is going to great lengths to ensure the best possible learning environment and opportunities for your child.  With that being said, things are going to feel and look different during this remote learning time. I have asked my staff to proceed with grace and patience and I will ask the same of you.  We were not trained to teach this way. We are all rapidly trying to embrace what is to be our new normal. There is no doubt in my mind that many of you feel the same way.

There are some important pieces of information that I would like to share with you.

*The health and safety of your children is of the utmost priority to us.  We are carefully considering how our decisions and requests will impact your child's social and emotional well being.

*Our staff members are using this week to plan for "Remote Learning". The remote learning structure is intended to provide purposeful engagement for your student.  There will be links to your child's teacher with lessons and activities to be completed daily or weekly.

*  I will share out the Roosevelt Remote Learning link on Monday.  The district will also have a link on the homepage under "Remote Learning".  You will simply choose Roosevelt from the menu then select your child’s teacher.

*It is our hope that families will utilize devices that they already possess at home.  That could be a tablet, home computer, laptop, gaming console or an older sibling's district issued chromebook.  We are NOT giving a chromebook to every child at this time. If you do not have access to any devices, the district is distributing chromebooks on April 2 and April 7 from 10:00-1:00 at Bicentennial, Wilson and Deere.  The devices will be linked to your student and must be returned when face to face instruction resumes.

*If your child needs something essential from school, please contact me.  Essential items would include glasses, medications, 5th grade chromebooks, etc.  We are not cleaning out desks. I will set appointments on Friday from 9:00-12:00.

*The district is pleased to continue to offer meals to our students.  Meals may be picked up at Bicentennial, Wilson and Deere from 10:00-12:30 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Riverbend Food Bank also provides grab and go meals on Fridays for the weekend. No meals will be distributed on April 10 or April 13 due to the holiday weekend.

New information continues to come in and circumstances change.  I will be updating the information regularly and am available to you for questions you may have.  Again, I ask that we move forward with patience and grace.

Educationally yours,

Sharon Lantzky
