Message from Mrs. Diamond-Bohlman
Willard Elementary is not just a school but a community. Willard Elementary named after famed American Educator Frances Willard; is a treasured historical landmark in Moline established in 1900. We are big on parent involvement, after school activities, and most importantly, student success. Our building is tucked into a corner of a residential Moline neighborhood and provides a bright, cheerful, positive learning environment for over 200 students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Our dedicated staff, with parent support, sponsors a variety of extracurricular activities such as: Lego League, Cupstacking, Academic Team, Choir, and Student Council. Our PTO sponsors Oktoberfest, Book Fairs, Holiday Shop, and Carnival. Willard has a strong community partnership with Salem Lutheran Church and is supported by other local churches and businesses. Willard's high student academic achievement is the result of the high expectations and partnership of staff, families, and our neighbors. Teachers provide Literacy instruction through the use of Daily 5, Words Their Way, Guided Reading, Writing: Units of Study. Our 5th grade students are provided Chromebooks through the LEAD Moline program. LEAD Moline (Limitless Engagement, Amazing Discoveries) is an approach to education in grades 5-12 that utilizes personalized learning and technology to accelerate opportunities for students. LEAD focuses on three core areas: personalized learning, increased 21st century skills, and greater access to educational opportunities. All other students in grades Kindergarten through 4th use class sets of Chromebooks. We all work together to make Willard a 21st Century School.
