Good morning students and teachers.

Attention 8th graders! Interested in watching March Madness with Mr. D? On Thursday March 21 and Friday March 22, Mr. D will be broadcasting the 1st round of tournaments in his class room from 11:00-12:45. If you have lunch or study hall during this time and would like to hang out with Mr. D while watching the game, purchase your entrance ticket at the school store for only 20 Spartan Pride Tickets. The school store is open before and after school every Friday.

Students in grades 4-8 can learn about animal science and dissect a fetal pig. Registration is required and space is limited. For more information, or to register, contact the Moline Public Library.

 

The Moline Public Library is hosting a Teen Poetry Contest.

Students in grades 6-12 can submit ONE original poem of up to 30 lines. Entry forms are available at the library or online. Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Prizes will be $25, $15, and $10 gift certificates for first, second, and third places in each category. All poets are invited to the Awards Ceremony and Poetry Café on Monday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Moline Public Library. Poets can read their poems and prizes will be awarded. Bring your friends and family! This program is sponsored by the FRIENDS of the Moline Public Library. TWEEN STEAM CLUB: Edible Water Bottles

Monday, April 1 @ 6:00 p.m.

Students in grades 4-8 can learn to make edible water bottles to help eliminate plastic waste. Registration is required and space is limited. This program is developed pursuant to a Library Services and Technology act grant administered by the Illinois State Library using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services. Boys Tennis: Attention all boys wanting to go out for tennis this Spring. There will be a mandatory meeting today Thursday, March 14, immediately after school (3:15 -3:45 pm) in the first floor computer lab, room 133. If you cannot attend this meeting, talk to coach Slininger before the meeting in order to sign up for the team.

Just reminder JDMS students one more day of testing, we will be taking the Illinois Assessment for Readiness in ELA and Math tomorrow. Your teachers will be sharing the testing schedule and room locations with you.

During testing, you will need a pencil, headphones, and your Chromebook. Be sure you charge your ChromeBook every night and bring your charger to school with you in case your battery needs charging.

John Deere Middle School has been selected to participate in the 2019 National Assessment of Educational Progress also known as NAEP. It is the largest continuing and nationally representative assessment of what students across the country know and can do in a variety of subject areas; this test will be taking place today in  the library, please do not send students there. Students who take this test will be eating pizza that has been provided by Student Council.

 

Crime Stoppers, our next meeting will be held today in Mrs. Frazier's room. See you there!
