JDMS students! Come to the school store before or after school on Friday to purchase a raffle ticket. This semester we are picking 1 winner for Airpods and multiple winners for a bluetooth speaker. 1 raffle entry is 10 Spartan Pride tickets. We will draw the winners during 8th period on Friday May 31.

 

Attention 6th and 7th graders!!  The Spartan Image is looking for students who want to write, take pictures, design layouts and be creative... Students who want to leave their mark on JDMS history!  If that sounds like you, stop by Mrs. McCoy's room, room 210, or the office this week to pick up an application to join the 2019-2020 Spartan Image team!  Applications must be turned in by May 30.  All 6th and 7th graders are eligible to apply!

If you bought a Yearbook listen up! 8th graders: Your yearbooks will be distributed at 8th grade Recognition after you receive your certificate. Everyone else can pick up your yearbooks on Friday, June 7th before or after school outside the main office. Yearbooks not picked up will be held in the office. Any questions, please see Mrs. McCoy on Room 210.

Attention all NEW 7th grade WEB Leaders:

There is a mandatory meeting on Thursday after school until 4:00 p.m. in Mrs. C DeBlaey's classroom, located on 2nd floor across from the Library. PLEASE BRING YOUR CHROMEBOOK TO THE MEETING! See you then!

The Quad Cities Ballet Folklorico will be at JDMS on Thursday May 23 at 5:30. Bring the whole family and be prepared to be amazed with dazzling costumes and great music. If you have any questions please see Ms. England in room 222.

 

The John Deere Middle School’s Lights ON program is hosting a summer enrichment program. It will run from 9am to 12pm and lunch will be provided. Sessions start Monday June 10 and will run until June 28.  A summer permission slip to attend must be turned into the office. The form can picked up in our office.  The summer enrichment program is free to all students and both 6th and 7th graders are welcome to attend. Please see Mr. Potter with any questions.

The boy’s tennis team finished second at the regional Moline Middle School Tennis Tournament this year. They were just a few points from taking first. The trophy winners included Ethan Mesich-Fiems 3rd place, Deepak Badri 4th place, Zach Bitner 5th place, and Jeffrey Stroup 6th place. The doubles included Ezra Pottebaum and Harley Noel 4th place and Carter Goodwin and Ezekiel Rogerson 5th place. It was an entire team effort. Be sure to congratulate these athletes. Go Spartans! The end-of-season awards presentation and pizza party will be this Tuesday after school in the cafeteria.

The faculty and staff here at JDMS would like to congratulate and wish good luck to Saiheed Jah as he competes in the IESA state track meet this weekend. Saiheed is running the 110 hurdles and currently holds the school record in this event.

If it is too cold or raining, we will play indoor soccer in the gym if possible.  We will be playing soccer every Wednesday through the end of May. You do need to be a member of the Lights On for Learning program.  Permission slips can be found in the office.  Please see Mr. Potter with any questions.

Just a reminder JDMS students, we will be taking the Illinois Assessment for Readiness in ELA and Math this week. Your teachers will be sharing the testing schedule and room locations with you.

During testing, you will need a pencil, headphones, and your Chromebook. Be sure you charge your ChromeBook every night and bring your charger to school with you in case your battery needs charging.

 

Boys Tennis: Attention all boys wanting to go out for tennis this Spring. John Deere Middle School has been selected to participate in the 2019 National Assessment of Educational Progress also known as NAEP. It is the largest continuing and nationally representative assessment of what students across the country know and can do in a variety of subject areas; this test will be taking place today in  the library, please do not send students there. Students who take this test will be eating pizza that has been provided by Student Council.
