MARCH 16, 2020

Students please make sure your chromebooks are working properly before leaving the building today. If you need assistance with your chromebook or have lost your device please see Mrs. Stanley in the help desk as soon as possible.  The help desk will not be issuing loaner chromebooks today. We can charge your device today if needed.

MEDIA RELEASE:  Mrs. McKee requested a media release for a handful of students last week.  Those students need to return the signed form AS SOON AS POSSIBLE or you will NOT appear in the yearbook.  

ART CLUB: Art Club is cancelled today. Students should be allowed to call home as needed to arrange transportation. 

MOLINE PUBLIC LIBRARY VIDEO CONTEST: Quad City area libraries are holding a video contest for teens. Create a 30 to 60 second or 3 to 5 minute movie for your chance to win $100. Entries are due March 23, and entry forms are available at the Moline Public Library.

Boys Tennis- If you’re interested in playing boys tennis this year, there will be a short information meeting on Monday, March 16th, right after school in B148. 

Mary Poppins Cast: Show shirts are here! If you still need to get your shirt, see Mrs. Erb. Shirts are $15

MARCH 13, 2020

8th GRADE CLASS SURVEY: 8th graders are reminded that their votes on the 8th grade class surveys are due TODAY, Friday, March 13th.  

7TH & 8TH GRADERS: This year’s spring dance is TONIGHT. Tickets will be sold before and after school this week and next. Tickets are $6 in advance and include a piece of pizza and pop. Any students with unserved detentions by March 13th, and any students who receive a major referral between March 2nd and 13th, will not be allowed to attend the dance. 

MOLINE PUBLIC LIBRARY VIDEO CONTEST: Quad City area libraries are holding a video contest for teens. Create a 30 to 60 second or 3 to 5 minute movie for your chance to win $100. Entries are due March 23, and entry forms are available at the Moline Public Library.

Book Club will meet next Tuesday, March 17th.

TRACK & FIELD:   Practices will be everyday and will go until 5:00pm. There will be a parent informational meeting immediately after practice on Thursday, March 12th at 5:15pm in the cafeteria. 

DJ CLUB MEMBERS: Your meeting this week is on Thursday from 3:45-5:45. TRACK MANAGER POSITIONS OPEN: Mr. Putnam and Mr. Perkins are looking for 5 managers for this year’s track team. Talk to them about the openings if you are interested. 

WINTER BOOK FAIR:  The fair will be open during school hours TODAY.  It will be open during conferences this afternoon, evening, and tomorrow morning.  Please remember that there is sales tax added to all purchases. Come and check out the amazing books this fair has to offer!

LOST AND FOUND: Oh my!! There are tons of coats, sweatshirts, and other items in the Lost & Found. All items will be removed TOMORROW morning. If you have lost anything, please come to the office TODAY and check if it is here.

MOLINE PUBLIC LIBRARY KNIT & CROCHET CIRCLE: Help the Moline Public Library knit or crochet blanket squares on WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5 at 5:30 p.m. Blanket squares will be used to make complete blankets which will be donated to Project Linus. Supplies are provided but limited.

ATTENTION CULINARY CLUBS!  6/7th grade culinary club will meet this Friday from 3:20-4:20.  Advanced Club will also meet this Friday from 4:20-5:20. We will have our yearbook photo taken.  Please bring your folders. See Mrs. Smice if you have any questions. 

Attention all 8th grade students:  Tomorrow the High School Counselors will be here to meet with you and discuss your schedule.  Please check with your teachers or on the library window for which period of the day you are scheduled to go to the library to meet with them.  Please be sure to check in with your teacher for attendance purposes first before going to the library. ALL LIGHTS ON STUDENTS:  Attend “Lights On” programming for a total of 30 days by the end of the school year to earn an invitation to a FREE PIZZA PARTY?  That’s right! Free pizza and pop! Our DJ Club might also be there to play your favorite music nice and LOUD! So...30 days of LOFL...by May...you can do it!!!!  Some kids have already qualified!

LEGO CHALLENGE: We have been challenged by John Deere to compete at the end of the quarter after we have built and perfected our LEGO SUMO robots.  Join the team every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 3:20 to 5:20 p.m. New students are welcome to join NOW.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WMS:  Our school opened its doors for the first time on January 29, 1962.  Wilson is 58 years old TODAY!

WINTER 2 SPORTS PICTURES:  The cheerleading squads, girls basketball teams, and wrestlers will have their team pictures taken TODAY, Wednesday, January 29th starting after early dismissal (about 2:30 p.m.)  You may also order individual portraits. See your coach for an order form.

ALL STUDENTS:  Where are our DJs????  Wilson’s very first DJ Club is up an running but we need students!!!!!!  If you want to use REAL DJ equipment, lots of loud speakers, laser lights, spot lights, fog machines, a sound mixer, a brand new MacBook and learn how to rig all of the equipment to DJ the Wilson dances...you should join DJ Club!  This club meets in room B147 at 3:45 on Tuesdays. This is such an incredible opportunity to learn real world skills….come and check it out! You can even have your own “DJ Nickname!”  

KINDNESS CLUB: Come warm up with some cocoa after school on Tuesday in Mrs. Curnyn’s room as we work to spread kindness at Wilson.

7TH GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL - If you played on the 7th Grade Boys Basketball team, you will need to turn your uniform in to  Mr. Johnson, in room C109. When you turn your uniform in you will receive your letter or pin for that sport. Please turn them in as soon as possible.
