Multilingual Learners
The Moline-Coal Valley School District strives to provide equal educational access for all students, including English Learners. By offering different instructional models to support students whose first language is not English, we align content with Common Core State Standards and modify the delivery of instruction to align with each student’s English proficiency, as measured by the ACCESS assessment each year. We base our program on research and best practices to support meaningful and successful learning experiences that value the relationship between socio-cultural, linguistic, academic, and cognitive processes of the students in our program. We honor, respect, and promote speaking more than one language and provide multiple opportunities to celebrate our multilingual and multicultural community.
