Dual Language

The Moline-Coal Valley school district is the only Quad Cities school district that offers a dual language program.  Students who reside in the Lincoln Irving boundary automatically have the option to participate in this educational setting to become bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English, and students around the district may request to transfer for this program as long as space is available, and they qualify.  Our one-way program allows students who speak Spanish at home an opportunity to learn in both Spanish and English throughout the school day, with instruction at kindergarten taking place in Spanish 80% of the day and gradually decreasing through 4th and 5th grades to 50% of the day in English and 50% of the day in Spanish.

El distrito escolar de Moline-Coal Valley es el único distrito escolar de los Quad Cities que ofrece un programa de dos idiomas. Los estudiantes que residen en el límite de Lincoln Irving automáticamente tienen la opción de participar en este entorno educativo para convertirse en bilingües en español e inglés, y los estudiantes de todo el distrito pueden solicitar la transferencia para este programa siempre y cuando haya espacio disponible y califiquen. Nuestro programa de una vía permite a los estudiantes que hablan español en casa la oportunidad de aprender en español e inglés durante todo el día escolar. Con la instrucción en el kinder que se lleva a cabo en español el 80% del día y disminuyendo gradualmente a través de cuarto y quinto grados al 50% del día en inglés y el 50% del día en español.

Note: Parents who do not live within the Lincoln-Irving boundaries and wish to be considered for the program should complete a Dual Language Transfer request form at school registration.  Note that students must speak Spanish and have a WIDA screener or ACCESS score of less than 3.5 to qualify for the program.
