Multifactor Authentication

Google Cloud, our email platform provider, will begin requiring all adult users to enable Multi-Factor Authentication starting in early 2026.  Click here to learn more about their phased approach

This mandate aligns with our ongoing efforts to protect staff and student information.  We have partnered with Rapid Identity to provide an MFA service that meets Google’s requirements and those of other third-party services.

What Is MFA:
MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) requires two steps to log in:

  • Something you know (your password), and

  • Something you have (such as your personal phone/device, an authentication app, or biometric data, if applicable).

MFA helps prevent unauthorized access even if your password is stolen.  This school year alone, we have had 25 adult accounts compromised!

Other Benefits of MFA:

  • Protects sensitive student and staff data

  • Blocks phishing and unauthorized access attempts

  • Meets state and federal security compliance standards

  • Meets the security standards required to maintain our CyberSecurity Insurance

Features of RapidIdentity MFA you’ll notice:

  • Multiple authentication methods: Rapid Identity offers easy, convenient MFA options.  You will receive instructions when it is time to configure MFA.  However, here are some examples of the methods you can choose from:
    • Authenticator App installed on your personal device (most convenient and most secure!)
    • If applicable, your device’s fingerprint scanner
    • SMS message notifications

  • Single Sign-On (SSO): Once verified each morning, you can access multiple district systems without having to enter your username and password each time.

  • Self-service options: Reset your own password through Rapid Identity.

What’s next:

  • The Educational Technology Department and Rapid Identity are collaborating to configure this service.  Please watch your Inbox for specific rollout dates and the instructions for setting up your MFA choice.
